A Big Deal
Hunting in North Carolina is a Big Deal! I’m not much of a hunter, but recently the nephew of one of our long term employees hunted a record deer that hit many of the news outlets and hunting periodicals.

Preston Cave recently got a 180 class buck with a muzzleloader in Yadkin county. This is apparently one of the largest deer ever successfully hunted in this area. Preston has been featured in several magazines including the January issue of North Carolina Sportsman. We were talking around the office about how proud we are of Preston and how this is a Big Deal!
Preston learned his hunting skills and hunting safety rules from his dad when he was just a kid. Preston had his own kids with him when he got the prized buck and is teaching them proper hunting safety. Accordingly, this seems like a good opportunity and time of year to folks to learn and follow hunting safety rules.
A good resource is the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. This is where you can get your licenses and registrations. From an amateur perspective, one the most impressive things about all of the hunting resource materials is how they promote responsibility not only for safety but also for the land, animals, and environment. The Wildlife Commission also has safety classes and materials for the public.
A quick search of the internet reveals many resources for hunting safety. A good list of hunting resources is here. Please, if you hunt, take time to learn the rules and proper hunting safety.
Happy and safe hunting - or, if you are more like me, happy listening to hunting tales!
