Lawn Mowing Safety

Lawn mowing safety is a topic that has been in our recent news following the lawn mowing accident of Appalachian State's star quarterback, Armanti Edwards. Edwards slipped on a hill while mowing and cut his foot.  Additionally, our Lewis & Daggett team was consulted this past week regarding a severe injury sustained when a mower threw a rock. Let’s review a few safety tips for the use of lawn mowers.

Texting While Driving

Text messaging is a relatively new and very fast-growing method of communication. While it certainly has its advantages, texting while driving can be extremely dangerous.

Swim Safety

There has been a number of swimming related tragedies and instances in the news this summer. Accordingly, it seems appropriate to review some basic swim safety rules.

b-SwimSafety.jpg

First, it is important to understand that although swimming is very enjoyable, it can also be very dangerous and even potentially fatal. Each year in the United States there are close to 4,000 fatal unintentional drownings. That equals approximately ten deaths per day!

Driving While Tired

Have you ever driven a motor vehicle while tired? Drowsy drivers are a serious threat to themselves and to everyone else on the road. Please join our Lewis & Daggett team in helping to prevent driving while tired car accidents.

b-PersonalSafety.JPG

At Lewis and Daggett we have had intra-office programs the last two weeks to learn how to avoid being a victim of violent crime. Winter Driving Safety

We have been lucky so far this year - we have had no really bad weather to affect driving conditions, as yet. Winter driving can be dangerous, inconvenient, even infuriating. But you can offset those aggravations and minimize the special risks of winter driving by practicing safe habits for winter driving.

b-WinterDrivingSafety.jpg

First, the best rule is not to drive if you don’t have to when the weather is bad. Certainly, you should minimize your driving and only do what is necessary. Please wait until after the snow plows have been through and allow yourself extra time so you are not in a hurry.

A Big Deal

Hunting in North Carolina is a Big Deal! I’m not much of a hunter, but recently the nephew of one of our long term employees hunted a record deer that hit many of the news outlets and hunting periodicals.
