Law Day, Plus a Graduation

Fifty years ago President Eisenhower established May 1 of every year as "Law Day." Law Day is a national day of recognition of the principal of government under law, as opposed to rule by individuals.

Government under law is essential for a free society. We will discuss further next week how the law is the founding principle of our country. It is important for us to review our commitment to the ideals on which our country was founded in order for us to have liberty. This foundation is the basis of all opportunity and equity within our American society.

This past week we also celebrated a law school graduation within our Lewis & Daggett family. Our long-time colleague, Doug Nauman, has been going back to law school at night over the past four years to obtain his law degree. The speeches and presentations at the graduation remind us of some of the principles for of Law Day.

Law school graduation is certainly a milestone for Doug. Although he will stay with us and in the same line of work, law school graduation put him in a bit of a new arena. We have every confidence that Doug will do well. Doug has prepared himself well and is a model of professionalism. Professionalism and ethics are parts of the values and culture of our firm, and Doug exemplifies the principals in every avenue he pursues.

Prior to joining us more than 12 years ago, Doug was a senior insurance adjuster with a major insurance company. During his time with us, he has focused his efforts on the investigation, work-up, and negotiation of car accident cases. In addition, he has assisted us with his knowledge and his experience in a broad array of insurance coverage issues and strategic work-up of serious injury cases.

The law demands a passion for justice and fairness. In our firm, all of our clients are individuals who face powerful and sophisticated adversaries, as well as contending with their injuries and disabilities.

Serving our clients demands a heart for service. Doug enjoys helping clients and colleagues on issues small and large where he can lend his experience and expertise for a better result.

We are confident that Doug will be able to align his goals and abilities with his history of professionalism, passion, and service for positive benefits for all of us. It is a privilege and an honor to celebrate Law Day and Doug's graduation all in one week!
